INTERIOR DIALOGUE WITH ASHLEY STARK

When it comes to fine, imported carpets from around the world, there is one name that always comes to the top, and that name is Stark. For over 75 years the Starks have been on the forefront of finely made carpets and textiles, but now the third generation of Starks is stepping in to take the family-run company into the forefront of contemporary home design.

Ashley Stark, granddaughter to the founding Starks, is now the Creative Director of the company, and with a background in fashion and design, she is bringing, as she says “the much-needed feminine touch” into the company. As creative director, Ashley is involved with every aspect of the business, from trends, to materials, to production, to ensuring the business is growing with the ever-evolving market. She has implemented a new social media presence (with over 240K followers!) as well as a design presence on the website, where she lets the world in on her fine-tuned eye in Ashley’s Window, her style and design blog.

Although Ashley and her family live full time in their Manhattan townhouse, they love getting away for the summer months to the Hamptons, but chose Amagansett for its more relaxed vibe and surf-friendly beaches. The house is a classic beach-cottage, with beautifully high white-washed ceilings and a deck to die for! Although they do have plans for total renovations in the upcoming year, Ashley has made this sweet little beach gem a peaceful, lovely getaway.

I cannot wait to see what she will do with this beach home once she renovates it. I thoroughly enjoyed to be able to meet with Ashley in her Amagansett home to talk everything from surfing, to our mutual love of all things finely crafted. I think you will enjoy it, too.
