Tom Dixon’s COG Tidy Desk Set

Tom Dixon’s COG Tidy Desk Set

As someone who cannot sit down to work unless my desk is immaculately clean and tidy, I am always searching for the perfect desk accessories to organize with. I have a glass top desk at the moment which is great looking, but requires a spritz of glass cleaner and good wipe down EVERY day if I am meant to sit there to work and get anything done. I know, I have a bit of OCD. Always have, but I digress….

I happen to have a current love affair happening with all things brass. Unlacquered, polished…it doesn’t matter. I just love brass anything at the moment! I am talking about all of this in order to share with you a new desktop find. The answer to my desktop dreams. When I spied Tom Dixon’s new COG Tidy Desk set– a stylish collection of brass plated solid aluminum desk accessories that is inspired by the tools of engineering.

The pieces are all distinct, yet play off of each other with ridged and riveted surfaces. The brass-plating gives off a lovely gold-shine that elevates these vessels above the average bit or nozzle from which they take their inspiration. The line also includes other table top accessories, like candleholders, pens and pencils, and containers large and small for all your odds and ends.

This brass looks fabulous with this milky pink glass vessel.

Tom Dixon has become a power house in British design, rising to prominence in the 1980s after having no formal design training. One of my favorite stories is that he came to fame based on a sketched a doodle of a chicken turned that into an idea for a chair. This chair, known as the S-chair, took Dixon from small time into the Italian luxury goods industry, and from there into the permanent collection of the MOMA! Now Dixon is known around the globe, with stores in multiple locations. Not to mention that the NYC shop on Centre Street in NoLita is a wonderland of fabulous objets, lighting, and fabulous finds from the designer’s collection.

I will keep you posted on my desktop adventures, and if I can break my glass cleaner habit anytime soon!
