At Interior Monologue, we believe handmade is the best made. Our mission is to provide a collection of makers that you can trust – handmade excellence and ethical production. We think it’s important to understand who made the things we love. Our hope is that this collection connects you directly with these makers and their one of a kind stories.
Each piece by glaze is made with integrity in collaboration with small, family-owned American lumber yards, woodworkers, and candlemakers. All of their materials are responsibly sourced, and carefully selected for their innate qualities and bold characteristics. All finishing work is done in-house at glaze’s studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
IM APPROVED.
Now more than ever, it feels so important to make our spaces feel like a safe haven. A simple way to do this is being intentional about the sensory experience of our home. Lighting and other simple comforts can be the difference between a room full of stuff and a space that truly works on us as we sit inside of it. The secret always lies in the details. This is why I was immediately smitten with glaze: their designs reinvent classics, always with a stroke of genius and a spark for modern invention.
glaze is a lifestyle product design studio based in New York City. The husband and wife duo behind the studio, Akeem and Stephanie Glaze, launched their namesake in 2017 to create authentic, quality items designed with distinct attention to detail. With equal emphasis placed on form, function, and experience, glaze’s products make for arresting, yet subdued, statement pieces for the home. Each piece is carefully crafted and subtly infused with influences from the duo’s roots in Palm Beach and the Northeast.
They will be the first to say that Innovation through form, material, and utility is an integral part of their design process. Through hand sketches, mock-ups, digital modeling, and 3D printing, they are able to quickly produce usable prototypes in order to perfect form and function before moving forward with production. They believe that problem solving through experimentation is crucial to developing inspiring design solutions.
All finishing work is done in-house at glaze’s studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This is where their products come to life. The glaze team meticulously completes each piece by hand, ensuring all details are in place for a consistent final product experience.
Needless to say, we’re crazy about these matchboxes. These handmade pieces arrest any dinner party with the ritualistic lighting of a candle or a fireplace. Lighters be gone. Matches are back and here to stay.
