Cutipol is synonymous with luxury cutlery. It’s finely crafted in Portugal — cutlery renowned for its quality and design. Cutipol has set out to constantly improve and innovate the cutlery industry, utilizing the legacy that goes back to its very origins in Portugal. José Ribeiro learned the manufacturing techniques in his father’s small workshop where years later he would create his first company, later to became Cutipol. They bring the heritage of Portugese handmade cutlery across all borders.
MAKER STORY: Cutipol
Cutipol was founded on April 1st, 1963 with the idea of taking the heritage of Portugese handmade cutlery across borders. José Ribeiro first learned the techniques and knowledge from his father’s small workshop. By 1950, he had created his first company which would later become Cutipol. The brand has now become a family affair. His wife Alice Marques, co founded the brand alongside Jose, and acts as the lifeline of the business. Her roles include the production and development of Cutipol. Jose has traveled the world with his children to discover the most advanced technology, machines, processes, and ultimately — customers.
By the early 1980s, an intense renovation of their factory began. The children have now joined the team, bringing along with them modern intent in processes, design, and internationalization.
But traditional craftsmanship will always be at the heart of Cutipol, most notably in the cutlery’s finishes. While the brand strives to keep up with innovation, the machinery still is tended to by skilled eyes and hands. They utilize their internal teams and resources to design, study, and finish each piece. The cutlery is designed with functionality and simplicity in mind. Each model goes there a selection of raw materials, before an ergonomic study of shapes, proportions, and finishes so each cutlery features fine lines — both pleasant to touch and use. “Cutipol’s worldwide excellence is known for higher quality materials and the focus on the tiniest details.”
