Bright and jazzy, our Ella Pillow brings a unique pop of color with beautiful craftsmanship. We use 100% cotton yarn to weave each pillow by hand – our artisans use an Incan backstrap loom to create an eye-catching pattern and strokable texture. Big pom poms in each corner add an extra dash of fun to this conversation piece.

At Interior Monologue, we believe handmade is the best made. Our mission is to provide a collection of makers that you can trust  – handmade excellence and ethical production. We think it’s important to understand who made the things we love. Our hope is that this collection connects you directly with our favorite makers and their one of a kind stories.

While a staple in luxury, cashmere production is having a devastating environmental impact through intensive and destructive grazing. Instead, Johanna Howard uses the sustainable alternative of alpaca wool. They live in harmony with the environment, while traditional techniques are still used by Andean herdsmen to raise small, free-range herds. The Peruvian people have thousands of years of experience weaving and knitting with alpaca fiber. Johanna Howard continues to work with small, family-owned, fair trade producers to marry the centuries of Peruvian artisanry and the modern design aesthetic of Scandinavia.

MAKER STORY: Johanna Howard Home

The roots of Johanna Howard products are her native country Sweden. She grew up sitting in her mother’s atelier as she diligently crafted dresses by hand, thus the beginning of Johanna and her appreciation for the quality of handcrafted product. Her childhood also left her with a love for the clean elegance of Scandinavian design.

After spending years working as a clothing designer, Johanna now turns her attention to designing for the home. Throughout her travels, she has discovered a realm of talented artisans and craftspeople. From the highlands of Peru to the families of weavemakers of Portugal, she collaborates with these artisans for all of her home accessories. The result? A marriage of cultures, creativity, design, and tradition that is simply breathtaking.
