This is the view from my bedroom window right now.

This is the view from my bedroom window right now. Today, as I walked around my neighbourhood, I almost forgot today was “that day” as I kissed my son goodbye on his way to school, walked the dog and thought about the days work ahead. Then it hit me. It’s the air on this day. It’s the way this city feels on this day. It’s almost unfathomable this happened 22 years ago and somehow, despite all the time that has passed, New York always feels different on 9/11. You can feel it in her bones today. We were a city of people forever changed. And yes, everyone around the world was affected by this day in some way. But New Yorkers, the ones who lived through it, we will forever be affected by this day’s events like no one else can be. If you were here that day, you know. The day after this horrible nightmare was the day I fell forever in love with this city. September 12,2001. I knew I’d never leave her when I saw us all come together like no other place on earth could. In the face of such devastation, there was so much love. So much togetherness. So much strength and resilience and kindness to each other as we roamed our forever changed city streets trying to help in any way we could. We were all holding each other. Holding her. I love you, NYC. This crazy wonderful city of mine. And I love my fellow New Yorkers. Simply the most satisfying, healthy warm chicken salad I have ever had. My husband and I created this recipe together by blending so many of the things we both love into one dish. I love warm foods more than a cold salad and he loves a salad, period. I happen to love seeds in a salad, and he is a sucker for apples. In this salad we combined ingredients we both love to create the salad of our dreams. Did I mention that I am actually able to prepare this dish without burning it? It’s true!
