Les Few’s Luxury Home Accessories
Based in New York City, the Swedish born Eva Eklof started her line of beautiful objects called Les Few as an ode to Swedish Design, with an edge of New York sensibility. What drew me to Les Few is the way Eklof has thought about the craft of each piece within the actual design. She is committed to merging the very best craftsmen in the field with her own imagination and impeccable design sensibility.
Minimalism and refinement in form and material remain at the heart of Les Few’s creative work with a design process that centers around close collaboration with skilled Swedish craftsmen. The idea for the leather accents, spotted in the Julie and Armance collections, came from the old Leica camera cases, which Eva always had growing up. The leather craftsmen sew all the pieces in central Stockholm on the same edge-stitch machines that used to sew the leather camera cases for Hasselblad and Leica. Where better to handcraft these pieces than the leather workshop that originally inspired her? They still use many of the same techniques and machinery, ensuring these boxes are as finely tuned to fit their brass tops as the classic camera cases were to their lenses. Craftsmanship and quality is at focus in this small factory.
Her latest collection Armance is made of brass, wood, and leather pieces which are finely crafted in Sweden. I love the way these textures come together, utilizing Swedish brass, which is hand shaped by expert metalsmiths, then creating perfectly fit leather pieces to add a soft, lived-in feel.
It’s no wonder Eva so seamlessly creates refined and minimal luxury home accessories with such ease; she was exposed to these concepts in form and material at an early age. Having notable links to Modernism and Sven Eklöf, a pioneering architect who helped shape the Mid Century Swedish aesthetic, she has grown up with a strong creative tradition in her family. These practices still remain at the heart of her work with Les Few.
Les Few focuses on exquisite materials, impeccable craftsmanship, and precise details. They combine a timeless perspective with easy elegance in their luxury home accessories. Fill your space with pieces that tell a story of skilled craftsmanship that you’ll love and cherish for years to come.
