CRUSH CAMPAIGN #25 Oscar de la Renta For the Fall CRUSH CAMPAIGN #25 Oscar de la Renta For the Fall collection, the brand aimed for a spirited display of optimism and craftsmanship. Their inspiration came from Katharine Graham at Truman Capote's famous 1966 Black and White Ball — which de la Renta attended himself donning a tux and black cat mask. This collection was all about eveningwear and this specific dress stood out like no other. Fireworks adorned intricate fil coupé fabric in an effort to capture the essence of nighttime magic. I, for one, think they more than succeeded. Another dress I’m going to obsess about for my post-Covid dressing debut. I think there’s nothing better than this gift my I think there’s nothing better than this gift my husband and I received last week. It came all the way from Scotland - a huge Christmas hamper from @thefifearms filled with artisanal goods from that magical country. It was refused by customs (?) and then resent so it arrived after Christmas much to the dismay of the senders. But it was actually even more special to receive it after the holidays and before my birthday! Especially since every single item is a true keepsake. When one receives such a special gift, time doesn’t matter. I personally love it all but gravitate the most to this stunning ceramic dish and the chicest brooch (pictured) proudly displayed in our home. I have never received anything chicer! Thank you to my dearest friend, my soul sister @foziak25 and her equally dear to us husband @ali_cook for this stunningly thoughtful surprise. It also feels particularly timely since my feed is full of detoxes and workouts that I am supposed to be doing right now being the new year and all. I am not doing that btw. I never do. More on that later. So back to this post. After Covid hit, Christiansen started hearing from local growers whose businesses supplying hotels and restaurants with farm-to-table produce had disappeared overnight. “It To support the out-of-work growers, the website started offering CSA boxes of vegetables from local farm County Line Harvest.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The offering was an instant hit. “We thought we would sell 50 the first week. We sold 500,” Christiansen says. Bundles of roses from Rose Lane Farms were added next, bunches of native flowers from Peads & Barnetts followed, and plans are currently in the works to sell honey harvested from the estate and olive oil from a local producer. “We’re encouraging all farmers and producers who would like to sell their products through our network and delivery service to contact us,” he says.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Christiansen says he is delighted to see so many people in lockdown sharing what they’re eating and cooking, plus the things they’re bringing into their homes. “What’s happening now has given us all time to pause and think about how far we’ve strayed from appreciating the things grown and made here,” he says. “That’s the thing about the boxes. Such a lovely way to end this year of madness and sadness with this pocket of warmth glowing over the city we love so much. These are my current pair and they were what I managed to find online in these Covid (ie. I’m not going to unnecessary doctor appointment) times! But the frames are plastic 😱 and the lenses are blue on Zoom calls and FaceTime and in photos. See pic as proof. Hmmm....Need to research where to get chic, handcrafted reading frames. Home for the holidays. Savouring every minute of t Home for the holidays. Savouring every minute of this peaceful holiday season. It’s been a unique time to say the least but I have to fess up. It’s been a relief this year for me to have such a mellow Christmas. I’ve been able to use this time to reset again. In fact, I’ve used this whole year to do so which is for sure a silver lining for me in this crazy year we call 2020. I’ve learned about healing myself when my stress levels get too high and my #postconcussionsyndrome symptoms come raging back. The ringing in my head returns, the aching headaches, the blurry vision, the anxiety, the feeling of forgetfulness...There is no way I’ll avoid this from happening when it gets to be too much for me for however long it takes to fully recover (if one ever does)! But for now I know how to manage it. Lots of rest, knowing when to say no, reading a good book, taking long walks outdoors, baking, watching a cheesy movie with my boys...breathing. Paper cutting is a traditional art form in Switzerland dating back several hundred years. Swiss paper cuttings are rare and highly valued — they mostly depict farming life. “I was born and raised in a small farming village in the heart of the Swiss Alps. My inspiration comes mostly from nature,“ says Marc Schweizer. Schweizer likes to combine small, detailed iterations of both traditional and modern motifs with a focus on the balance of black and white.
